July 5, 2010 to August 1, 2010 July 5, 2010 to August 1, 2010

Davies, the designer behind Melbourne-based design house ‘Lightly‘, utilises post-consumer waste (car tyres & rubber) in juxtaposition with traditional techniques (macramé and crochet) as research materials to produce an innovative collection of occasional seating and domestic objects. The project presents a unique combination of high end product design and large scale recycling in collaboration with Australian manufacturers.
These pieces exploit both material and pop cultural references to highlight awareness of the larger environmental issues at play in the creation and disposal of lifestyle consumer goods.
