Amnesty International – Art Exhibition Opening Night

Artworks from school students across Victoria on human rights will be displayed in City Library Gallery in Flinders Lane, Melbourne throughout July 2010.

Join us on the 8th of July 2010 for the opening night where you will also have the opportunity to make a creative action yourself!

Your art will be sent to Papua New Guinea women rights defenders who are going to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women hearing in New York.

Gertrude Street Projection Festival 2010

Gertrude Street will once again be transformed into a free outdoor gallery.

Now in its third year, the Projection Festival is this year themed ‘Me. You. Us.’ – encouraging us all to think about our relationship with ourselves and our community, and our effect on the world.

The festival program includes a building-sized interactive digital projection by the Festival’s feature artist, Kit Webster, as well as entries from community groups and emerging artists.

The Rudd Government’s ‘Strategic Capability Program‘ is calling for applications for matching grants starting from $250,000 from businesses in the TCF industry that wish to improve their ‘innovation, collaboration, market access, business improvement, skills development, environmental sustainability and ethical practices.’
Consortiums led by TCF businesses or TCF industry bodies are also encouraged to apply.
Applications close on 6 August 2010.

Celebrating the power of art to create radical social change, the team at artRiot are beginning to build a community of artists who are inspired to evoke change. There will be no nice florals, tepid landscapes or wallpaper portraits. ArtRiot wants their upcoming exhibition to be as memorable as the night the riot started!
Expressions of interest are now open for an interactive, multidisciplinary exhibition at the TAP Gallery in Sydney, 20 September – 3 October 2010.

State of Design – ‘Here-Say’ at Counter Point – Speakers & Forum: Questioning Consumption Practices

The Department of Counter Culture hosts ‘Here-Say’ at Counter Point; a speaker program and conversation forum in which mainstream consumption practices and values are challenged and alternatives considered and discussed.
‘Here Say’ launches the larger Counter Point program with a keynote presentation by Professor Kim Humphrey followed by a suite of presentations by practitioners including Social Studio, Craft Cartel, Clothing Exchange and Citizens of Elysium. Prof Humphrey will then facilitate a Q & A forum.
