Swamp – Lucy Selleck

Swamp creates a fantastic natural history terrarium for hyperrealist interspecies voyeurism. Lurking with battered taxidermy animals weathering a nightmarish environment, the creatures attempt to fight back but always remain on the cusp of being physically overwhelmed.

Amongst the tragically heroic chaos and incapacitation, a tiny space begins to open up- enabling a wistful anthropomorphic identification with the inert animal that sits inside us- equally trapped in the malevolent environment of our own physical selves.

ARTECYCLE

ARTECYCLE 2012

The 2012 ARTECYCLE exhibition will take place 18 May 2012 to 8 July 2012.

ARTECYCLE is an annual non-acquisitive sculpture and installation competition with a prize pool of $14,000 including:

  • $10,000 East Keilor & Strathmore Community Bank® Award
  • $3,000 The Incinerator Gallery Award
  • $1,000 Incinerator People’s Choice Award

Inspired by the Incinerator Gallery’s history, entrants are asked to explore the themes of environmentalism and sustainability using either recycled materials or materials that would otherwise be considered disposable.

Entries for the ARTECYCLE 2012 are now open.  Entry forms are available to download.
