Presented as a ten-day event, Floating Land brings people from across the Asia Pacific including visual and performance artists, cultural practitioners, writers, and educators together with the communities of the Sunshine Coast.

Floating Land is an ongoing conversation about creativity, the environment and culture.

The 2011 theme, Water Culture, continues these conversations and acknowledges that those of the Asia Pacific region are facing the adverse consequences of climate change due to their dependence upon, and close relationship with, the oceans, rivers and waterways.

The venue this year is Boreen Point, Lake Cootharaba in the UNESCO -listed biosphere of Noosa, with satellite locations at Coolum and Bli Bli on the Sunshine Coast.

Anime in the Arvo – Fundraiser for Japan at Federation Square

JAPANESE music, film and culture will take over Fed Square in a bid to raise funds for earthquake and tsunami survivors. The Japan Exchange and Teaching Alumni Association will host Anime in the Arvo, from 3pm.

Entertainment will include Japanese taiko drumming, local musicians, cosplay, anime cartoonists and a film showing courtesy of the Melbourne International Film Festival at 5pm. More info here
