The Repair Workshops: Expression of Interest for Collaborators (State of Design 2011)

The Repair Workshops is a five day collaborative exploration of the concept of ‘repair’. The workshops will be run as part of the 2011 State of Design Festival held in Melbourne in the last week of July. Eco Innovators are currently seeking expressions of interest from artists, designers, scientists and engineers to be involved in this exciting project that has received funding support from the City of Melbourne. Waste not! – Design solutions for waste management

A welcome trend has seen designers, manufacturers and consumers becoming increasingly aware of what is wasted, whether that be the left-over materials in producing a product for sale, or once sold, the product itself when we are tired of it.
Just think of all those clothes we throw out, not to mention the computer screens and furniture that we take to the dump or leave piled by the side of the road ready for collection at Council clean-ups.
