Progressive Media: Creating and Exhibiting Films for Social Activism

This forum aims to create public awareness of progressive media’s role in helping people – be they filmmakers, activists or concerned pedestrians – document what they witness. It also highlights its affordability and accessibility as a tool for positive social activism.

11 eleven global arts project

For 24 hours, on 11/11/11 anyONE who has access to a film, video, digital, phone or web camera will be invited to partake in the biggest creative project of our human history. People from 196 different countries, brought together by over 2000 languages will be asked to capture a day in the life of their world. The footage, audio, visual and photographic material will be collated and used as the ingredients for a variety of 11/11/11 initiatives including a 2 hour cinematic documentary, photographic book, world music collection and an interactive online portal.

As a not for profit project – the money raised will go to charities helping us acheive the Millennium Development Goals set out by the United Nations. ONE person can and does make a difference. Stand up and be a world changer.

Big Green Idea – funding opportunity for eco-visionary Australians

The Big Green Idea is open to any environmentally conscious Aussie eco-innovators who have plans to make a real contribution to Australia’s environmental future.

A maximum of six awards for either $10,000 or $20,000 cash grants will be given in a range of areas including initiatives addressing: waste reduction; transport and travel; energy efficiency; sustainable design; commercially applicable projects for industry; initiatives for creative industries; sustainable design; climate change; and positive communications campaigns.

Applications can be made at Big Green Idea, an initiative of the British Council Australia.
