Artists Sonja Hornung and Richard Pettifer are bringing the beach to Brunswick to prepare the City of Moreland for the rising sea levels.  Expect the world’s longest ever game of Climate Change “Risk”, a mini-Ute Muster, a new model of democracy through improvised music, and more. Everyone is invited to stand with us on our sunny shore and contribute to the conversation.

The spectacular theater production of Jandamarra, a legendary indigenous warrior and lawman who led one of Australia’s longest and most successful campaigns to defend Aboriginal country.

The theatre season is well underway with the final performance at Windjana Gorge tonight. Bindarri caught up with Damion Hunter to ask him a few questions…

Presented as a ten-day event, Floating Land brings people from across the Asia Pacific including visual and performance artists, cultural practitioners, writers, and educators together with the communities of the Sunshine Coast.

Floating Land is an ongoing conversation about creativity, the environment and culture.

The 2011 theme, Water Culture, continues these conversations and acknowledges that those of the Asia Pacific region are facing the adverse consequences of climate change due to their dependence upon, and close relationship with, the oceans, rivers and waterways.

The venue this year is Boreen Point, Lake Cootharaba in the UNESCO -listed biosphere of Noosa, with satellite locations at Coolum and Bli Bli on the Sunshine Coast.

Ngapartji Ngapartji emerges from eight years of research and development between Scott Rankin and Trevor Jamieson and the Jamieson family. From this foundation, it continues to evolve as a cross-cultural social change project. Ngapartji Ngapartji has many layers involving language learning, teaching and maintenance, community development, crime prevention, cross cultural collaboration, creating new literacy training models as well as film, art and theatre making.

Malthouse Theatre invites theatre artists to submit proposals for the first Dara Foundation/ Malthouse Theatre Climate Commission, as part of Tipping Point Australia’s Climate Commissions. It is hoped that work developed through this commission will stimulate audiences to the radical reimagining of a world dominated by climate change, and the manifest implications for humanity. Proposals can be made by theatre artists of any discipline (text, dance, opera etc), as individuals or groups, or existing independent companies. Deadline: Dec 6. Soul Theatre is a charitable, cultural organisation representing the misunderstood, disadvantaged and disenfranchised. They create high quality theatre productions. They’ll be hosting a fundraiser on Sat Nov 13 from 5pm at The Athol Gill Centre, 100 Hodgkinson Street, Clifton Hill.
