sustainable design

Under the ISO 14020 Environmental labels and declarations standard, claims that make broad implications such as “sustainable”, “environmentally friendly”, “natural” or “green” are considered misleading because they imply the product offers general environmental benefits yet do not qualify this.

We use the term Sustainable Design to refer to design which is working towards minimizing harmful impacts on both the natural environment and our social systems and understand in most case it is not truly sustainable.

The term ’sustainable’ has such a wide-ranging application that it does not always have a clearly understood meaning. We recognize that there are currently no definitive ways of measuring sustainability and the concepts it entails are highly complex.
